Genoa renews Rumpke contract

During the Thursday, January 9, Genoa Township Board of Trustees meeting, Genoa Township Administrator Paul Wise recommended that the trustees approve a one-year extension of the township’s Rumpke trash and recycling contract through January 31, 2015.

Following a brief discussion the trustees approved the recommendation.

The extension allows the township to retain trash-hauling service at $46.44 quarterly per household.

The trustees said they would continue plans to collaborate with Orange and Liberty townships to collectively bid services with the objective of achieving an even lower rate for residents; and the trustees will also ask other Delaware County political sub-divisions to join in the collaborative effort.

Wise said the renewed contract continues to offer a 10 percent discount to seniors, 62 years of age or older.

The contract also continues to offer the option to rent a 96-gallon, wheeled trash receptacle for $1.50 per month, as well as 65-gallon and 95-gallon curbside recycling totes with lids at $1.50 per month.

An 18-gallon recycling tote will continue to be provided free of charge to each resident.

The trustees said they would rebid the single waste hauler bid package in the spring of this year.
