LIMA — The city and newspaper received a bit of a shout out Wednesday morning from journalist and podcast host Jemele Hill while on ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike.”
Before starting a segment with Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic on ESPN’s morning show, Hill told a story about getting a long-time boyfriend’s initials tattooed on her thigh while living in Lima and interning at The Lima News. The boyfriend, who also had her initials inked on his arm, didn’t last, but she does have a lasting reminder of her time in Lima.
Hill was a summer news intern at the newspaper in 1994, after her freshman year at Michigan State University. A Detroit native, Hill joined ESPN in 2006. She is a national columnist for ESPN.com and co-hosts ESPN’s “Numbers Never Lie” podcast and calls herself “the better half” of the “His and Hers” podcast she hosts with Michael Smith.
After a tweet to Hill thanking her for the mention of the city and paper, Hill retweeted the tweet and asked, “Is Kewpee’s still there?”
