Estella Truax, a fourth-grade student at General Rosecrans Elementary School, was honored as a Big Walnut School Board Student Citizen of the Month for April at last Thursday’s Board Meeting. Estella is the daughter of Ron and Megan Truax and a sister to Gabby and Bella who also attend Big Walnut schools.

While the name Truax is a familiar name in the Big Walnut School District, being chosen Student of The Month is an honor Estella has earned all on her own, just ask GRE fourth-grade teachers Trisha Hilton and Ginna Crawford.

“Anyone who has had the opportunity to meet Estella can instantly that she if an individual who will go places. She has a contagious smile, an upbeat personality, and she is able to see the positive in any situation,” Hilton said. “In the classroom she consistently works on her studies, even earning all A’s the last two grading period … not an easy fete in fourth grade! As a teacher, I appreciate Estella’s respectfulness and kindness toward others. She is quick to held a classmate, will lend supplies as needed, and has a way of including everyone when working with a group.”

Crawford echoed Hilton’s thoughts.

“Estella is the true definition of what it takes to be a Student of The Month at Big Walnut Local Schools. Her character is that of a loving, caring, respectful and responsible student. She consistently goes above and beyond in and out of the classroom walls in order to be successful,” Crawford said. “She aspires for perfection in her education, church and traveling soccer team as she always hold her head high and inspires those around her to do the same.”

Crawford said Estella is a caring person.

“She whole-heartedly cares for her classmates, friends, teachers and, above all, her parents,” Crawford added. “With a cheerful smile on her face, leads her fourth-grade class as a positive role model to each of her peers.”

Hilton said the school district is fortunate to have Estella in its midst.

“I’ve watched her grow into a confident, intelligent young lady who gives 100 percent in everything she does. She’s not only a great student, but more importantly she’s a wonderful friend and a kind-hearted soul.” Hilton noted.”We’re lucky to have her in our midst and I know she will continue to represent her family and her school in a way that will make us all proud!”
