The Boston-based duo of Amy Advocat and Matt Sharrock, performing as Transient Canvas, are “nothing short of fabulous” with innovative performances that “invite new sounds, fearless and unapologetic,” proclaims The Boston Musical Intelligencer.
The musicians will visit Ohio Wesleyan University on Nov. 16 for two free community events.
At 3:15 p.m., Advocat and Sharrock will hold a master class during which five OWU students will perform music that they have been composing specifically for Transient Canvas since fall semester began in August. This event will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Jemison Auditorium inside Sanborn Hall, 23 Elizabeth St., Delaware.
Then at 7 p.m., Transient Canvas will perform at the Richard M. Ross Art Museum for an evening of both aural and visual art. The museum is located at 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware.
The duo, featuring clarinetist Advocat and marimbist/percussionist Sharrock, began performing together in 2011. Since then, Transient Canvas has premiered more than 75 works in performances across the United States and Europe.
The musicians released its first album, “Sift,” in August, with KLANG New Music deeming it “one of the more refreshing things I’ve heard in recent years.” Learn more about the duo and hear music samples at www.transientcanvas.com.
