Dublin Named Safest City in Ohio

Sunbury News Staff Report

Beautiful Ohio was the birthplace to seven presidents and 24 astronauts. If you’re into sports, you may also know that it’s home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, two Major League Baseball teams, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and of course, the Cincinnati Reds. There is quite a lot to see in this state if you’re into nature. Hocking Hills State Park, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, and Cleveland Metroparks are just a few of the best parks and attractions in the state. Ohio is just about as safe as any other state in the US on an average scale, but their safest cities are safer than the national average. Let’s take a closer look at Ohio’s safest cities.

Of the 25 scored cities in Ohio, 7 of them have a Safety Score of at least 80. Dublin is the state’s safest city, with a score of 88.53. It is a suburban area with a population of 44,931. The Dublin Irish Festival, one of the biggest Irish-American festivals, is held here. Since it’s a modern suburb, it’s easy to get around by car here. There are plenty of things to see and do in Dublin. If you enjoy wildlife viewing and interactive exhibits, the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium is great for that. If you’re a family looking to cool off at a water park, the Zoombezi Bay is worth taking a look at. Simply looking to take a day off in beautiful nature? Hayden Falls Park and Indian Run Falls are highly recommended in Dublin.

The other cities that made it to the top 5 safest cities in Ohio include Parma (86.93), Miami Township, Clermont (84.37), Strongsville (83.93), and Kettering (82.32). These are all suburban areas with smaller populations, which contributes to their higher rankings. Columbus is Ohio’s capital and largest city with a population of 847,745. Surprisingly, it ranks as the 15th safest city in the state with a Safety Score of 68.27. For a city that has plenty of foot traffic and activity, this is not terrible. Columbus has a diverse economy; whether you’re looking for a career in the education, government, medical, banking, hospitality, or technology sector, you’ll be sure to have a variety of jobs to consider.

Four of the top five safest cities mentioned above are all just a little over 1 hour away from Columbus. Those looking to live in a safer area without completely compromising commute time may consider living in one of the quieter suburbs and commute into busy cities like Columbus when needed.
