AKRON (02/01/2018) — With much hard work and determination, Andrew Philpott of Galena (43021), graduated from The University of Akron! In all, the 1,259 candidates from 23 states and 25 countries earned 44 doctoral degrees; 22 juris doctor degrees; 243 master’s degrees; 817 bachelor’s degrees; and 136 associate degrees.
Philpott successfully completed the program requirements earning the degree AAS in Land Surveying Land Surveying.

Sage Haines Member of AU TV-20 at Ashland University
ASHLAND (01/31/2018)— Sage Haines of Sunbury is a member of Ashland University’s AU TV-20.
Haines is majoring in digital media production. Haines is a 2015 graduate of Big Walnut High School. Haines is the creative director for AU TV.
WRDL-TV is an educational non-commercial television station at Ashland University. The television station, which is cablecast on Channel 2 to more than 15,000 viewers in the Ashland area, features a nightly news program and coverage of community events.

Dumford is majoring in middle grades education. Dumford is a 2014 graduate of Westerville North High School.
Kappa Delta Pi – Kappa Nu Chapter’s recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to education and to promote development of worthy educational ideals. The enhancement of professional growth is at the center of its mission. The group host several events including an annual fundraising event for Associated Charities, initiation ceremony and meetings on topics related to professional growth. Membership in Kappa Delta Pi requires a 3.5 grade point average in field of study with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 overall.
Calvin Higdon Member of Club Swimming at Ashland University
(01/31/2018) — Calvin Higdon of Westerville is a member of Ashland University’s Club Swimming.
Higdon is majoring in middle school grades education.
He is the son of Todd and Kathy Higdon of Westerville. Higdon is a 2014 graduate of Westerville South High School.
Competitive sport clubs compete with other university or town sponsored sport clubs, or teams, and travel to different events/games throughout the year. Competitive sport clubs are more serious in nature, similar to varsity athletics, and may involve playoff components to conclude their season.
