Members of the Big Walnut High School Music Department held their annual Spring Concert last Thursday evening (May 11). Performing were the combined Big Walnut High School Choirs, the Big Walnut High School Concert Band, and the Big Walnut High School Wind Ensemble.

Each year the size of the choirs, band, and ensemble seems to grow, and they always perform in front of a standing room only crowd.

This year was no different, as Choir Director and Assistant Band Director Lisa Huston, Band Director and Assistant Choir Director Craig Porter, and music department students filled the auditorium with their final music offering of the 2016-17 school year.

The BWHS Select Choir opened with True Colors followed by the Big Walnut High School Ohio Music Education Association District Contest Choir performing Let Me Ride.

The combined choirs then performed Sing Dem Herrn and Africa, followed by the Vocal Jazz Select Ensemble’s rendition of The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

The choirs closed their performance with Omnia Sol (Let Your Heart Be Staid) and Let The River Run.

Following a brief intermission the BWHS Concert Band performed Tailspin!, Crush, and Nathan Hale Trilogy.

The BWHS Wind Ensemble closed the evening with performances of Celebration, The Witching Hour, and Thrive.

Recognized during the evening were the music department’s 68 graduating seniors.
