Contribution will benefit local service members and families through USO of Central and Southern Ohio

Westerville (July 11, 2017) – Kroger customers confirmed their support for members of America’s military by contributing a record $109,842 to benefit the USO during The Kroger Co., Columbus Division’s annual Honoring Our Heroes campaign. Amy McCormick, Kroger corporate affairs manager – Columbus Division, will present a check to United Service Organizations (USO) representatives at the Marysville Kroger Marketplace on Friday, July 14 at 11:30 a.m. The store is located at 1501 West 5th Street.

According to McCormick, 100 percent of funds raised will benefit the USO of Central and Southern Ohio. The Columbus Division’s Honoring Our Heroes campaign began May 21 and continued through June 3, with funds collected through scan card purchases at Kroger’s Columbus Division store registers. Customers were invited to write the names of their military heroes on their cards to show support for a military branch by placing it on Kroger’s special USO sign.

“We count thousands of military personnel and veterans among our associates and customers and their families,” McCormick said. “It is an honor to present this check to the USO of Central and Southern Ohio, which reaches out to local military members and their families as well as others in West Virginia and Kentucky.”

Kroger selected the Marysville Kroger Marketplace as the location to present the check because the store collected the most funds during the campaign.

The USO is a nonprofit, charitable corporation chartered by Congress that relies on donations from individuals, organizations and corporations. The organization offers a variety of programs and services designed to support American service members and their families.

The Kroger Company launched its Honoring Our Heroes campaign in 2010. For more information, please visit www.honoringourheroes.com.
