Ice Cream Social and Auto Show at Condit
The Annual Ice Cream Social sponsored by Condit Presbyterian Church is 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 in the Church Fellowship Hall.
The first Condit Auto Show is the same time with registration of vehicles from noon to 1 p.m. Owners of all types of automotive vehicles are encouraged to enter, show the vehicle and possible win a prize. Registration fee for all auto vehicles including Cars, Trucks, Foreign, Muscle, Tuner, Tractors, Motorcycles, and Beaters is $10 per vehicle. Vehicles will be on display from 1 to 4 p.m. behind Condit Presbyterian Church. Prizes will be awarded in the different categories. Dash plaques will be given to all entrants. In true Condit fashion, the Ice Cream Social will include grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and brats, homemade sides of beans, assorted salads (macaroni, potato, fruits, etc.) and of course ice cream for cones or in dishes with brownies and lots of toppings. There is no fee for the meal but we would like donations to help pay for our new furnaces.
There will be a bounce house, a firetruck for photo-op, music, and other games for family fun during the afternoon.
Busy parking lot
The Battle of the Brands Car Show will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 29, in the Sunbury Plaza Parking Lot.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Registration fee is $10. All Cars, Trucks and Cycles are welcome. Awards will be presented for the “top 25” — Best Chevy, Ford, Mopar, Pontiac, Best Import & Best BOC (Buick-Olds-Cadillac).

Also in the lot that day, there will be Zumba dancing from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., courtesy of Kore 7 Fitness. You do not need to be a gym member to join in the workout. Thanks to Jan Adkins for calling in this item.
4th Friday Uptown
July’s 4th Friday, 6-9 p.m. July 28 in Uptown Westerville, will have a World Bazaar theme, including Irish and belly dancers, and the Columbus Knights Lightsaber team.
Serbian Festival Saturday
You may have seen the signs while driving around — there will be a Serbian Festival from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 29 at St. Stevan of Dechani Serbian Orthodox Church, 1840 N. Cassady Ave., Columbus.
The event will feature traditional music, dance, food and drink. To get a description of the food, see ststevanofdechani.org. The church will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in September.
Ironman this weekend
The Ironman 70.3-mile Triathlon will be Sunday, July 30, in Delaware. Changes to the course should keep much of the traffic away from the BW area.
Trustee meeting Monday
The Genoa Township Board of Trustees will be meeting in Special Session on Monday, August 21, 2017, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Genoa Township Hall, 5111 South Old 3C Highway, Westerville, Ohio 43082.
The purpose of this meeting is to allow for public input concerning medical marijuana.
Sales Tax Holiday
The state of Ohio will again have a Sales Tax Holiday starting Friday, August 4, 2017 at midnight and ending on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.
During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:
Clothing priced at $75 per item or less;
School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and
School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.
Items used in a trade or business are not exempt under the sales tax holiday.

The 2017 Hartford Independent Fair is August 5th-12th at 14028 Fairgrounds Road NW, Croton, 43013. The “Biggest Little Fair in the World” draws many from the Big Walnut area during its run.

Secretary of State Jon Husted recently announced the order of the two statewide issues that will appear on the 2017 General Election ballot:

The 2017 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Prevent Blindness elects Board Member
The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness, the state’s leading volunteer nonprofit public health organization dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight, elected Sunbury resident Krista Bistline, Senior Government Relations Director, American Heart Association to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting on May 17, 2017 for a three-year term.
Dispatch Building to get rehab
The Ohio Development Services Agency recently awarded $34,977,855 in Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits to 30 new applicants planning to rehabilitate 36 historic buildings.

Built in 1925 as the headquarters and printing facility for the Columbus Dispatch, this six story building faces the Statehouse in downtown Columbus. Updated over the years to meet the newspaper’s needs, the rehabilitation project will transform the building into primarily office spaces with some restaurant space on the first floor. The project is eligible for additional tax credit allocation, up to the requested $2,900,000, as it becomes available through withdrawn applications or project savings.
