Otterbein University Theatre and Dance opens its 2017-18 season with the Neil Simon comedy “Rumors” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21; 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24; and 8 p.m. on Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 28-30 in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. At a large, tastefully-appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of farce. Gathering for their 10th wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity. Neil Simon’s madcap, slamming door farce takes a routine party, adds quirky friends, missing persons, indistinct clues, gunshots, and botched cover-ups to make “the mundane – insane!”
Tickets are $22 each and can be reserved by calling the Otterbein University box office at (614) 823-1109 or purchased online at www.otterbein.edu/drama. The box office is open 12-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour prior to performances. The box office is located in Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St.
