Winter Program Guides Now Available
The Preservation Parks winter program guide is now available online, at preservationparks.com, under the news and publications tab. The guides, which cover programs held December through February, also can be picked up at several locations throughout Delaware County, including: all Preservation Parks, Delaware County libraries, and various other locations.
Registration is not required for the following free programs:
• Saturday, November 18, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and Sunday, November 19, noon–4 p.m. All Aboard for Railroad Fun. Visitors can watch model trains travel through a miniature village, during this open house hosted by the Delaware County Model Railroaders Group. Free, all ages. Sandel Legacy Trail, 168 S. Vernon Street.
• Monday, November 20, 6 p.m. Hound Hike. Bring your canine companion for a walk with a Naturalist. Dogs must be up to date on all shots and have county tags. Free, all ages. Char-Mar Ridge Park, 7741 Lewis Center Road, Westerville.

Maxwell Ave. closing for work
The Delaware County Engineer’s office will be closing Maxwell Avenue between S. Old State and Hayer Court for road construction in the intersection. The road will close on Monday, Nov. 13 and is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 22. For information, contact the engineer’s office at 740-833-2400.
Bale Kenyon Road work starts Nov. 13
The Delaware County Engineer’s office will be closing a portion of Bale Kenyon Road at 6404 Bale Kenyon Road through the north of River’s Run Drive. The road will close on Monday, Nov. 13 and is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Dec. 1. For information, contact the engineer’s office at 740-833-2400. Hills-Miller Road closing for work
The Delaware County Engineer’s office will be closing Hillsmiller Road between Troy Road and U.S. 23 for a culvert replacement. The road will close on Monday, Nov. 13 and is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Nov. 17. For information, contact the engineer’s office at 740-833-2400.

The Delaware County Engineer’s office will be closing Moody Road between Olive Green Road and Peerless Road for a bridge replacement. The road will close Monday, Nov. 13 and is scheduled to open on Friday, Dec. 22. For information, contact the engineer’s office at 740-833-2400.
Habitat hosts home ownership meeting
Habitat for Humanity of Delaware & Union Counties will hold an informational Homeownership Application Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at the Delaware Township Hall. This is a brief, informative meeting with an overview of Habitat and the process of filling out an application to become a homeowner. DNA workshop at library
The Delaware County Genealogical Society will present a workshop about using spreadsheets with GedMatch and Ancestry from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Delaware County District Library’s main branch, 84 E. Winter St., Delaware. Participants are asked to bring laptops to learn how to transfer DNA matches from GedMatch and Ancestry into spreadsheets. Tips and tricks to get the most out of results will be offered. For information, contact Kelli at firstname.lastname@example.org. The workshop will be held in the library’s community room.
Board of Health special meeting Nov. 28
The Delaware General Health District Board of Health will hold a special meeting beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 in the basement training room of 1 W. Winter St., Delaware, for the purpose of future facilities planning.
Snowflake Castle Elf Training
Calling all elves: help spread holiday cheer in Santa’s workshop at Snowflake Castle this year in Westerville.
Prospective elves must register and attend one of two training sessions, held at 2 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30. To register, visit www.westerville.org/registration and search Activity #512171-01 (2 p.m.) or #512171-02 (6 p.m.)
There are many opportunities to volunteer including Santa’s helpers, painter elves and toy builder elves. Toy builder elves should be prepared to help children assemble wooden toys using hammers, glue and nails while carefully following all safety precautions.
