On Jan. 28, members of Big Walnut/DACC FFA hosted a sub-district agricultural sales career development event at Big Walnut High School.

Big Walnut ag science teacher and FFA adviser said Big Walnut’s team placed first. Buckeye Valley’s FFA placed second.

“Individually, Alex Brown placed first and Evan Thiergartner placed second,” Stimmell said. “There was a three-way tie for fifth between Gabby Adair, Meghann Hale and Lex Marvin. Ben Kessler placed eighth in the contest.”

Stimmell said Buckeye Valley individuals Sarah Lehner placed third and Brandt Fields was fourth.

“In the ag sales (event), students completed a written test, and I have to give a shout out to Becky Hardy for putting that together,” Stimmell said. “Then they competed in a simulated sales situation. In addition to these two common elements, the students also completed a face-to-face practicum of handling an irate customer.”

Stimmell said the evening included a few non-competing public speakers.

Big Walnut’s Noah Hale and Buckeye Valley’s Trinity Smith did advanced prepared; Gabby Adair did beginning prepared for Big Walnut; in extemporaneous speaking, Alex Brown competed from BW and Gabby Blevins from BV; and Buckeye Valley’s Haley Pennington did creed speaking.
