The Sunbury Lions’ Club has announced the winners of their annual Peace Poster contest. This contest is sponsored by the local Lions and the Lions’ clubs throughout the world as a way of encouraging students to put their ideas for peace into a picture. The contest is open to middle school students, and the pictures are judged to determine the winners. An overall winner is chosen and goes on to compete at the district, state, national, and world levels. Students receive certificates and monetary prizes for their efforts.

The winners of this year’s contest from Big Walnut Middle School are: London Melvin-7th grade grand prize winner; Ashlyn Curry-7th grade runner up; Hailey Taylor-7th grade runner up; Cindy Serna-8th grade grand prize winner; Ryan Grudell-8th grade runner up. Their art instructor is Nancy Crawford.

The students were given their certificates and monetary awards at the November 13th Lions’ Club meeting. Eighth grade student Cindy Serna’s poster was chosen to compete at the district level.
