12 Golden Eagles sign letters of intent

Twelve Big Walnut High School senior student-athletes signed letters of intent to participate in collegiate athletics during a ceremony at Big Walnut High May 10. Twelve Big Walnut High School senior student-athletes signed letters of intent to participate in collegiate athletics during a ceremony at Big Walnut High School May 10.

Big Walnut High athletic director Brian Shelton introduced the students in front of an audience of family members, coaches and friends.

The students are Madeline Bodie, Zach Chucta, Jakob Evans, Tommy Fleser, Sam Funston, Nick Green, Ethan Hale, Andrew Klamfoth, Wayne Lambert, Jakob Malik, Hallie McClintock and Nick Moser.

Bodie will attend Columbus State Community College, major in marketing, and be a member of the Cougars’ cross-country team. At Big Walnut, Maddie ran cross country and has been a member of the track & field team.

Chucta will attend Wilmington College, study to become an athletic trainer, and play lacrosse for the Fightin’ Quakers. At Big Walnut, Zach has been a member of the lacrosse and basketball teams.

Evans will attend Ohio Dominican University, is undecided about a major, but will play baseball for the ODU Panthers. At Big Walnut, Jacob was a member of the baseball team.

Fleser will attend Ohio Northern University, study mechanical engineering, and play football and baseball for the ONU Polar Bears. At Big Walnut, Tommy was a member of the swim team, and played baseball, basketball and football.

Funston will attend Capital University, study music technology, and play lacrosse for the Crusaders. While at Big Walnut, Samuel was a member of the lacrosse team.

Green will attend Tiffin University, study sports management, and play baseball for the Dragons. At Big Walnut, Nick played baseball all four years.

Hale will attend Ohio Northern University, study criminal justice, and play football for the Polar Bears. At Big Walnut, Ethan played football and was a member of the track & field team.

Klamfoth will attend Ohio Christian University, study accounting and finance, and play baseball for the OCU Trailblazers. At Big Walnut, Andrew was a member of the swim team and played baseball.

Lambert will attend Ohio Northern University, study electrical engineering, and play football for the Polar Bears. At Big Walnut, Wayne was a member of the football team.

Malik will attend Otterbein University, is undecided about a major, but will play lacrosse for the Otterbein Cardinals. At Big Walnut, Jacob played lacrosse, and also played ice hockey for a club team not affiliated with the school district.

McClintock will attend Oklahoma State University, study animal science, and be a member of the OSU equestrian team. While at Big Walnut, Hallie participated in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association, riding in Zone 5.

Moser will attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University, study business and finance, and play baseball for the Cougars. At Big Walnut, Nick played baseball.
