Last Monday, the Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed John Fox on board as the chamber’s new Executive Director. Prior to signing on with the chamber, Fox had been employed by Kore 7 Fitness in member relations and sales.
Fox, a Cleveland native who graduated from Walsh Jesuit High School, owned a coffee kiosk business in Cleveland for 10 years, sold out and became a Mr. Mom and a writer, and moved to Sunbury with his family in 2009.
Fox said he was immediately interested when he heard about the opening as the chamber’s executive director.
“My wife and I are very involved at St. Paul’s (Catholic Church, Westerville),” Fox said. “I like organizing, I’m customer service-oriented, and I love people. We love the Sunbury area; the people here are so nice. I want to give something back to the community.”
Fox said being a former business owner he’s definitely pro-business; and the chamber of commerce needs to prepare for rapid growth with the opening of the Simon-Tanger Outlet Mall later this month, and NorthGate Commerce Center on the horizon.
“We plan to make the Sunbury/Big Walnut Chamber of Commerce more of a community-oriented organization as we move forward,” Fox said. “Some people think a chamber of commerce is just about business, but I think it’s both.”
