At the opening of last Thursday’s Genoa Township trustees meeting, State Rep. Margaret Ann Ruhl, R-Mount Vernon, presented the township with a proclamation celebrating the township’s bicentennial.

The proclamation, signed by Ruhl and House Speaker Clifford Rosenberger notes that Genoa’s official 200th birthday will be on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Township residents will gather for an official bicentennial celebration from 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 at McNamara Park. On tap are food, activities and games, with a movie, “Max,” to end the evening.
