Christmas on the Square Saturday

It may not be elegant, but the Christmas on the Square Donut Eating Contest, sponsored by Table Rock Construction, is a great way to cap an evening of fun, while welcoming in the holiday season.

The Village of Sunbury’s 35th Annual Christmas on the Square Celebration, scheduled for 4:30 to 8 p.m. this coming Saturday (Dec. 3), will feature a 5:30 p.m. Lighted Christmas Parade (parade stages at 5 p.m. at Burrer Drive), visits with Santa, Christmas Craft & Gift Fair, a Holiday Open House for Local Merchants around Sunbury Village Square, a Donut Eating Contest, and much more.

Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director John Fox said parade entries would be taken up until the parade kicks off, but parade participants are encouraged to turn entries in early, allowing the parade announcer time to prepare a script.

For an entry and liability form call 740-965-2860, stop in to the Chamber of Commerce office at 39 East Granville Street in Sunbury, or go to sunburybigwalnutchamber.com. (Click Events > Event List, then scroll down to December 3).

Other evening highlights include a Live Nativity, courtesy of First Baptist Church, and the Sunbury Lions Club Annual Christmas Tree Sale, with proceeds going directly to Big Walnut Friends Who Share.

Events include:

  • Craft & Gift Fair: in the meeting room of the Chamber office.
