The Genoa Township Zoning Commission is currently in the process of drafting an update of the 2009 comprehensive plan for the board of trustees and wants to know what you think.

A series of meetings will be held over the course of the next month and a half to provide the public opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions.

One or more members of the zoning commission, as well as a representative of the township’s development and zoning staff, will be in attendance. A digital copy of the current comprehensive plan can be found on the Genoa Township website. Go to genoatwp.com and in the “Search This Site” box, type “2009 Comprehensive Plan.”

Upcoming meetings include:

• Sept. 30 — The zoning commission will hold a special workshop meeting to solicit feedback from the general public on existing concepts within the plan, particularly Neighborhood Scale Commercial/Office Uses and Streetscaping. The meeting will be an open house format at the Genoa Township Hall, will begin at 6 p.m. and will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

Immediately following the Sept. 30 workshop, at 7:30 p.m., the zoning commission will hold a special meeting to review and discuss ideas for potential zoning resolution proposals based upon the comprehensive plan and the Planned Residential Cluster Development district zoning amendment that is currently being drafted.

• Oct. 5 — Regularly scheduled zoning commission meeting at 7 p.m. at the township hall. The commission will be reviewing Chapter 4 (Planning Areas IV, V, & VI), Chapter 5, and the appendices of the comprehensive plan (as well as continuing work on the Planned Residential Cluster Development district zoning amendment).

• Oct. 11 — The zoning commission will hold a special public workshop meeting to solicit feedback from the public on existing concepts within the plan, particularly Neighborhood Scale Commercial/Office Uses, Streetscaping, and Planned Residential Cluster development. The meeting will be an open house format at the township hall, and will begin at noon and will conclude at 2 p.m.

• Oct. 14 — The zoning commission will hold a special public workshop meeting to solicit feedback from the public on existing concepts within the plan, particularly Neighborhood Scale Commercial/Office Uses, Streetscaping, and Planned Residential Cluster development. The meeting will be an open house format at the township hall, and will begin at 7 p.m. (immediately following the utility aggregation open house), and will conclude at 8 p.m.

• Oct. 19 — The zoning commission will hold the first of two required public hearings on the comprehensive plan update (and the Planned Residential Cluster Development zoning amendment). The meeting will be held at the township hall and will begin at 7 p.m.

• Nov. 9 — The zoning commission will hold the second of two required public hearings on the comprehensive plan update (and the Planned Residential Cluster Development zoning amendment). A vote on the recommendation for trustees for both of these documents may occur at this meeting. The meeting will be at the township hall and will begin at 7 p.m.

All dates, subject matter and agendas of upcoming meetings, as well as the frequency and/or numbers of meetings, are subject to change, officials say. All changes will be posted to the township website.
