Serenity Dickson, a fourth grade student at Big Walnut Elementary School, was recognized during last Thursday evening’s (May 18) Big Walnut Local School District Board of Education meeting as the May Student of the Month.
Serenity said she is not involved in school sports, but she enjoys gymnastics, swimming, and playing outside with her brothers Cody, Hayden, and Koltyn.
In school, Serenity’s favorite subject is science, and she is also a member if the BWE Student Council. Her teacher Milea Sarap said Serenity epitomizes the definition of her name – calm and peaceful.
“What a perfect name for Serenity,” Sarap said. “She is a quiet leader among her classmates. I can always rely on her to do the right thing and be a great role model for her peers. She works hard every day, no matter what. Her attitude continues to amaze me – always positive, always helpful, always respectful.”
Teacher Julie Tuol agreed that Serenity is a hard worker.
“I can always count on her to do the best every day,” Tuol said. “She does a great job collaborating with others during class projects, and she is a joy to be around. I’m confident she will rock fifth grade next year.”
Serenity is the daughter of Amanda and Travis Dickson.
