Staff Report

Aftab Pureval, who upset a longtime incumbent to win the election for Hamilton County Clerk of Courts, will headline the Delaware County Democratic Party’s “Catch A Rising Star” fundraiser.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 at the Scioto Reserve Country Club, 7383 Scioto Parkway in Powell.

Pureval, 34, a Cincinnati attorney, worked for Procter and Gamble and a Washington, D.C., law firm before taking office this year.

David Pepper, chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, referred to Pureval as a “rising Ohio Democratic star.” He is viewed as a candidate for higher office by party officials.

“We are very pleased that Aftab will be headlining this important event, and we are looking forward to an especially strong turnout,” said Ed Helvey, chair of the Delaware County Democratic Party.

Additional speakers, officeholders and candidates for state and local offices, who will be attending, will be announced soon, Helvey said.

Tickets cost $50 per person and include appetizers and a desert buffet. They may be purchased online at www.ohiodeladems.org or at party headquarters at 12 1/2 N. Sandusky St., Delaware.

Sponsorships ranging from $75 to $500 may be purchased by contacting Vice Chair Julie Houston at 614-579-4246 or the party headquarters at 740-363-7500.
