During last Friday morning’s Sunbury Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce candidates breakfast, Big Walnut Schools Superintendent Angie Pollock announced that the school district’s 2015 “State of the Schools” event will be at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Big Walnut Middle School gymnasium.
Pollock said a new interactive format would mix presentations with optional stations, live classroom demonstrations and a student-led Academic Avenue.
“I think this is a rare opportunity for our residents to see what happens in the classroom,” Pollock said following the chamber breakfast. “Folks will have an have an opportunity to see what education looks like today, and how education has grown different from what it was when they went to school.”
Tracey Healey of FutureThink, formerly DeJong-Healey, who authored the school district’s 2015 enrollment study, will speak at the session, and be available to answer questions about student population growth over the next decade, Pollock said.
“All school district building and central office administrators will be there to answer questions,” Pollock added. “And the students have done a lot of work to put on their part.”
