Blood drive Sunday

On Sunday, Jan. 3, members of Sunbury United Methodist Church will host an American Red Cross blood drive in the fellowship’s gymnasium.

Blood drive organizers said hospital patients rely on blood donors every day for the blood products they need to treat a wide variety of medical conditions.

In fact, nearly 6,000 times a day someone receives blood from a Red Cross donor, and yet only about 3 percent of the population donates, they say.

To schedule an appointment for Sunday’s blood drive, call 1-800-733-2767, or visit redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: SunburyUMC.

Those who give blood on Sunday will receive a free six-inch sub card from Subway.

While supplies last, free Red Cross long-sleeve T-shirts will be given to blood donors through Jan. 3.

Sunbury United Methodist Church is at 100 W. Cherry St.
