Leaf Collection Begins Monday

The 2017 Leaf Collection program for kicks off Monday, Oct. 16.

The Public Service Department requests residents rake leaves to their tree lawns by 7 a.m. on the date of pickup to help ensure timely collection.

Boards & Commissions Vacancies

Westerville City Council will accept applications for vacancies on various boards and commissions through Wednesday, Oct. 20.

These voluntary appointments play an essential role in City government by evaluating areas of special interest and at times making recommendations to City Council.

Beggar’s Night (Trick-or-Treat) 2017

Trick-or-Treat will begin at 6 p.m. citywide on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The Westerville Divisions of Police and Fire will be out in the community from 6-8 p.m. to hand out candy and encourage a safe celebration

Construction Updates

Cleveland Avenue/Schrock Road Improvements

Construction to improve traffic flow and safety near Cleveland Avenue and Schrock Road is underway.

Please anticipate single-lane closures along southbound Cleveland Avenue and westbound Schrock Road between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays. More information can be found online.

Sunbury Road Improvements

One north and southbound lane of Sunbury Road, between County Line and Maxtown roads, will remain open through the end of the improvement project. Learn more on the City’s website.

Street Improvement Projects

The City continues to deliver on a promise made to residents in 2008 to improve all streets in less than “good” condition to “good” or “better” within 12 years. Keep tabs on these and other improvements with the GoWesterville Interactive Map.

Free Smoke Detectors, Installation Available

The Westerville Fire Division has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer residents free smoke alarms and installation.

The initiative aims to keep Westerville families safer by ensuring smoke alarms are properly installed.

Installations will take place by appointment. Residents should call the Fire Division (614) 901-6600 to schedule. Visit the City’s website for more information.

Public Access to Walnut St. Building

The main entrance and lobby of the City building located at 64 E. Walnut St., will close through March 2018 for renovations.

During this time, residents and visitors will access the building from the rear east and west entrances.

City Receives Auditor of State Award

The City of Westerville will once again receive the Auditor of State’s (AOS) Award with Distinction. The award was presented at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

This prestigious award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit.

Mosquito Spraying

Franklin County Public Health recently sprayed north and east areas of Westerville. Previously, south, central and west areas were sprayed.

WFD Lieutenant Assists in Harvey Recovery

Westerville Fire Division Lt. Marcus Chapman is serving with Ohio Task Force 1, assisting with rescue operations for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Please join the City in wishing Lt. Chapman, Ohio Task Force 1 and all of those impacted well.

In a recently released letter, the Auditor of State issued a favorable opinion that the City of Westerville’s financial statements for the 2016 fiscal year fairly represent, in all material respects, the financial position of the governmental and business-type activities.
