Harlem Township Days August 16, 17
Harlem Township’s fifth free township festival is set for Aug. 16 and 17 at Community Park in Center Village, 3883 S. St. Rt. 605 across from the Harlem Fire House.
The festivities will kick off Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. with an opening parade honoring the Harlem Township community and township senior citizens over the age of 80. The two day festival includes a quilt and craft show in the community room of the firehouse with prizes; an agricultural show and contests in the mower shed near the front of the park; Duncan’s Run Car Show; and contests with $10 prizes throughout the days.
Activities for children include a bounce obstacle course, cakewalks, pedal tractor pull and a silver stampede.

SUMC holds clothing give away
Sunbury United Methodist Church will hold an adult and children’s gently used clothing give away from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday in the church lower level multipurpose room.
Organizers said the clothing give away is for local residents. Donated clothing is not for resale, but for use by neighbors in the area.
If anyone would like to recycle clean, gently used items to help their Big Walnut area neighbors they can drop donations off in the Clothing Box located in the church’s upper level entry no later than tonight, Thursday, August 7.

Registration open for Moving with the Spirit 5K
Galena United Methodist Church will hold Moving with the Spirit 5k Run/Walk to help with community mission projects while promoting health and family activity. The proceeds will benefit Big Walnut Friends Who Share.
Race day registration is from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m.; the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. A Kids Fun Run begins at 9:15. To register online go to www.galenachurch.org. Payment can be made through Active.com, or download a hard copy of the registration form at the Galena United Methodist Church website. Application forms are also available at local establishments.
Registration is $30 from now until race day. A $5 discount is available for members of Columbus Roadrunners Club, FrontRunner Training Group and CBus Pacers. The Kids Race is $2 with no shirt.
Blood drive scheduled Aug. 15
Because of the constant need for blood, and the summer months when blood supplies are in greater demand, members of Sunbury United Methodist Church will hold an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 15.
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and more than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day. A total of 30 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S., and the average red blood cell transfusion takes approximately three pints of whole blood.

Scroll down to the SUMC Blood Drive and click Schedule an Appointment. Walk-ins are welcome, through the wait time might be a bit longer without an appointment.
Sunbury United Methodist Church will also host blood drives from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 7, from 1 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 and from 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
