Golden Eagle girls rout Bexley, 53-18

Big Walnut, racing out to a 9-0 opening-quarter lead, ran its season record to a perfect 3-0 with a 53-18 non-conference victory over the host Lady Lions last Tuesday night (December 3) at Bexley.


Led by the scoring of junior guard Makenna Hammond and senior forward Skylar Fleak, the Golden Eagles led by 20, 27-7, at the half before outscoring Bexley 26-11 over the final two periods for the win.


Hammond, who dropped in a trio of threes, led all scorers with 17 points, one point less then the entire Lady Lion squad. Fleak, counting two threes, followed with 13. Senior guard Hannah Seawell contributed 8 points.


Only two players scored for the Lady Lions. Brie Toney, with two threes, led the way with 13 while Sidney Woodward followed with 5 points for Bexley.
