Celebrating Ohio’s emerging artists

On July 11 and 12 at the Heritage Park in Westerville, Over 13,000 attendees and 142 artists and craft makers from across the country exhibited their work at the 42st Annual Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce Music & Arts Festival sponsored by Heartland Bank of Westerville, the event featured the annual Youth Art Exhibit, sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital at Westerville, which showcased 276 pieces of original artwork from 132 local Columbus-area students.

All of the participating students received special participation ribbons for submitting their work, and eight students were selected by the public and a special panel of judges to receive additional recognition. The following is a complete list of those selected as the 2015 Youth Artist Award Winners: Each year, the Festival convenes artists of all age groups from around the country to showcase their work. This year, a total of 17 established and emerging artists and craft makers were awarded for their contributions to the Festival.

• BUDDING ARTIST (ages 3, 4, 5): Riley Fenzel – Pencil Drawing (Color), Mark Twain Elementary

• GROUP 1 ELEMENTARY (ages 6-8): Timia Poindexter – Watercolor, New Albany Elementary

• GROUP 2 ELEMENTARY (ages 9-11): Mallory Strictland – Mixed Media, Alcott Elementary

• GROUP 3 MIDDLE SCHOOL (ages 12-14): Chloe Leonard – Pencil Drawing (B&W), Heritage Middle School

• GROUP 4 HIGH SCHOOL (ages 15-18): Elizabeth Miller – Acrylic Painting, Westerville Central High School
