During the Thursday, January 9, Genoa Township Board of Trustees 2014 Reorganization Meeting, State Senator Jim Hughes, a longtime family friend of Genoa Police Department Officer Dan Rannebarger had the honor of swearing Rannebarger in as Deputy Chief of the Genoa Township Police Department.

Rannebarger, an officer with Genoa Township for 10 years, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and has been a certified peace officer for 12 years.

During his tenure at Genoa Township, Rannebarger managed the department’s accreditation process and conducted numerous investigations, including money laundering, gambling, dog fighting, stolen property and bank fraud.

He aided a major investigation in collaboration with the DEA in connection with a heroin operation, recovering more than 100 kilos of heroin. He has worked with several federal law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, FBI and IRS.

“I believe Dan is highly qualified and will be an excellent Deputy Chief,” said Genoa Township Police Chief Stephen P. Gammill.

During the same meeting Genoa Fiscal Officer Pat Myers swore in Jarrod Speakman as a full-time Genoa PD Police Officer and Mike Sigman as part-time Police Officer. Speakman previously served as part-time township police officer.

“This promotion of officers will allow for better coverage during shifts,” Gammill said.
