Madailein Watters, a fifth-grade student at Big Walnut Elementary School, was recognized as the Big Walnut Board of Education Student-Citizen for the Month of March at last Thursday’s (March 20) School Board Meeting.
Madailein, the daughter of Keith and Nicole Watters, lists Social Studies as her favorite class. While at school she enjoys being a part of BWE’s Newspaper and Art Clubs. Outside of school, one of her favorites hobbies is taking voice lessons.
Katie Graven, one of Madailein’s fifth grade teachers at Big Walnut Elementary, says Maddy is an exceptional individual who is well-deserving of Student-Citizen of the Month recognition.
“Maddy is truly an all-around success, including in the classroom, with her peers and in her extra-curricular activities,” Graven said .”Her passion and excitement for learning is contagious in the classroom, and the constant smile on her face is evidence of pure joy in all that she does. I love Maddy’s determination to always be the best that she can be … she is an absolute pleasure to be around.”
Fellow BWE fifth-grade teacher Karen Bodker echoed Graven’s thoughts.
“Maddi is a positive hard-working and enthusiastic fifth grader. She does more than what is expected of her without complaining,” Bodker noted. “She accepts responsibility for her actions and can laugh about her mistakes while learning from them at the same time. She is a great role model of our school and community.”
