The Harlem Township Civic Association, in cooperation with Harlem Twp. Trustees and the Delaware Health District, is sponsoring a roadside cleanup campaign on Saturday, April 12. After several months of wind, snow and rain the township’s ditches are filled with paper, plastic, cans, bottles and assorted debris. Volunteers are needed to help show their civic pride. Volunteers can pick up trash bags, road assignments and safety vests from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Harlem Grange Hall, 12990 Center Village Road. We urge volunteers to wear sturdy boots and gloves for their protection.
You are encouraged to return to the Grange between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a free lunch, bragging rights on the most unusual finds, and return of safety vests.
For your convenience you may call Valerie Pedersen at 740-965-3670 to secure a road assignment and bags ahead of time. Trash filled bags will be picked up along assigned roads on Monday, April 14, by the Township Maintenance crew. This enables some to still participate in collecting trash that weekend, if not on Saturday.
