Worthington Kilbourne handles Big Walnut

After spending the last two weeks on the road, the Big Walnut Golden Eagles return home to play Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division rival Mount Vernon on Homecoming Friday night at Golden Eagle Stadium.The Eagles (3-3-0, 1-2-0 OCC) suffered their first road loss of the season last Friday, 23-13, at the hands of the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves in OCc Capital Division action last Friday night.Josh Stoner scored a pair of touchdowns for the Wolves (4-2-0, 2-1-0 OCC), including a fourth quarter score on a 13-yard run that extended a 13-6 deficit for the Eagles to 20-6.

Former BW head football coach Bill Havens passes

Bill Havens, alias Mr. Clean, 79, of Central Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 12. Bill was a former teacher and coach, winning two Mid-Ohio Conference football championships at Big Walnut High School in 1968 and 1975. After that, he decided to venture into the motivational field, eventually becoming Mr. Clean of Procter and Gamble and later producing a book called Developing Your Winner Within.

Sunbury Cleaners collecting coats for a cause

Over the last eight Christmas holiday seasons, Sunbury Cleaners employees have teamed up with David Widder of Caldwell Banker to provide winter coats for Central Ohio needy families.Last year the drive netted over 1,000 coats, with many of them going to Big Walnut area families in need via Big Walnut Friends Who Share, Eastern Delaware County’s grass-roots social service agency.
