Earlier football start times, new official fees and increased tickets passed by OCC

Staff Report

At the Ohio Capital Conference Executive Committee Meeting last night (March 13) there was a motion to change Friday night football start times, increase official fees and increase ticket prices. All three motions passed by a more than a 50% vote from each of 31 OCC schools.

Friday night football start times are changing from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Why the change? The earlier start time is what is best for our student-athletes. Getting home earlier on a Friday will allow for more time to rest. Most teams have to arrive early on Saturday mornings to either play in a Freshman or JV game.

OCC officials have been asking for an increase in fees for the last several years. The OCC passed the resolution to increase the fees to be comparable to post-season rates by a percentage.

The ticket price increase is $1 per ticket at the freshman, junior varsity and varsity level. Varsity tickets will now cost $7 for an adult and $5 for a student. The increase in tickets prices will help offset the new official fees and loss of revenue from the new OCC division for Big Walnut.

Big Walnut will keep season ticket prices the same to encourage families and community members to purchase season tickets and avoid the price increase at the gate. More information on how to purchase season tickets for next year will be coming later this spring.

Sincerely,

Brian Shelton – BWHS Athletic Director
