Ohio State is No. 1. No, not in another preseason football poll that surfaced, but it is No. 1 in a ranking that coach Urban Meyer is very pleased about.

The Buckeyes were named the nation’s top school in a ranking that combined great football with great education. The website College Factual put together the rankings that combined athletic competitiveness with Academic Progress Rate (APR) and a few other factors.

The Buckeyes checked in at No. 1 ahead of schools like Notre Dame, Alabama and Wisconsin. Here’s the top 10 from the list:

1. Ohio State

2. TCU

3. Duke

4. Notre Dame

5. Alabama

6. Wisconsin

7. Baylor

8. Clemson

9. Georgia Tech

10. USC

Meyer boasted about the ranking recently on Twitter.

One of Meyer’s initiatives since taking over in Columbus has been Real Life Wednesdays, a program that brings in guest speakers to talk with the Buckeyes about their future and careers outside of football.
