Big Walnut’s Boys and Girls Track teams joined Golden Eagle Baseball in what was an outstanding 2015 Spring Season for the BWHS Athletic Department.
Chris Holly’s baseball team, whicy Holly who h captured the school’s first-ever Central District championship en route to a berth in the Division II OHSAA State Semifinals. The Golden Eagles, who presented Holly with his 100th career coaching victry, posted a 22-10 record.
Golden Eagles earning individual honors included Nick Moser, a Division II All-Ohio Honorable Mention selelection as well as an All-Central District First Team honoree; Matt Tarney, an All-Central District Second Team choice; and Brayden Shepherd, an All-Central District District Honorable Mention selection.
Eric Myers boys track and field team earned numerous All-Delaware County honors, led by First Team honorees Alec Evans (110-meter Hurdles and 300-meter Hurdles);
Abe Myers (Discus), Cole Stark (High Jump); Isaac Lucas (Long Jump); and Matt Halbakken, Jon Kahrmann, Michael Buckles and Joe Muench (4×800-meter Relay).
Second Team selections included the following: Tyler Martin (400-meter Dash), Joe Muench (800-meter-Run); Cole Stark (110-meter Hurdles); and Ethan Hale (shot put), Isaac Lucas (High Jump) and Cole Stark (Long Jump).
Third Team honorees were Bobby Bogantz (1,600-meter Run), Cole Stark (300-meter hurdles), Tyler Martin, Joey Mazzi, Christian Johnson and Cole Weaver (4×100-meter Relay); Tyler Martin, Joey Mazzi, Isaac Lucas and Cole Weaver (4×200-meter Relay); and Jacob Thompson, Michael Buckles, Zach MacDonald and Joe Muench (4×400-meter Relay).
For coach Joe Evener’s Lady Golden Eagle Track squad, Avery Kerns and Coleen White were named to the First Team; Anna Vrancken joined White on the Second Team; while Kerns and White were selected to the Third Team along with Sam Godby, Sara Althauser, Allison Shawver, Alaina Wandling, Becca Bogantz, Kaitlin Meade and Leksi Murnieks.
No All-County teams were seleted in baseball, softball, lacrosse and boys tennis in 2015.
