Sunbury’s 10 a.m. Independence Day Parade, Star Spangled Salute, will honor Vietnam Era Veterans, escorted by the 122nd Army Band, Ohio Army National Guard.
As the parade passes the announcer’s stand, each veteran will receive a mayoral proclamation of appreciation for their service from Sunbury Mayor Tommy Hatfield, and a governor’s proclamation for each veteran from Ohio Governor John Kasich.
The proclamations must be prepared well in advance of the parade. Parade organizer Donna Evans said she needs information from veterans who wish to participate in the parade as soon as possible.
Evans said Vietnam era veterans do not have to be from Sunbury or even the Big Walnut area to join the parade and be recognized.
Vietnam era veterans who wish to be in the parade are encouraged to contact Donna Evans as soon as possible via email at < firstname.lastname@example.org >.
Be prepared to provide the following information: your name, your branch of service, your mailing address, your best contact method – phone, email, or snail mail.
