ASHLAND (01/28/2019)— The following students are members of Young Democrats at Ashland University:

• Matthew Bernsdorf of Westerville, OH is a member of Young Democrats at Ashland University. Bernsdorf is majoring in interention specialist education. Bernsdorf is a 2015 graduate of Westerville North High School.

• Stephen Melvin of Westerville, OH is a member of Young Democrats at Ashland University. Melvin is majoring in sport management. Melvin is a 2015 graduate of Marburn Academy.

The purpose of Young Democrats is to promote political education, encourage voting regardless of party lines, and to aid students in becoming politically involved from a young age. The organization works with the Ashland County Democrats in bringing speakers to the area from all aspects of involvement in the party, as well as establishing voter registration drives.

ASHLAND (01/29/2019)— Jenna Wolfe of Westerville, OH is a member of the women’s club volleyball team at Ashland University. Wolfe is majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Scott and Jennifer Wolfe of Westerville. Wolfe is a 2018 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School.

ASHLAND (02/04/2019)— Kelly Fullin of Westerville, OH is a member of the tabletop gaming club at Ashland University. Fullin is majoring in mathematics. Fullin is a 2016 graduate of Westerville South High School.

The tabletop gaming club is a club that accepts any and everyone. They mainly play Dungeons and Dragons but are looking to branch out and have people play Magic The Gathering or any card game in general. They are also looking into possible mini war games such as Warhammer or Star Wars Legion.

Fullin Member of Women of Excellence at AU

ASHLAND (02/05/2019)— Kelly Fullin of Westerville, OH is a member of women of excellence at Ashland University. Fullin is majoring in mathematics. Fullin is a 2016 graduate of Westerville South High School.

Women of Excellence is an organization that cultivates a sense of empowerment. Their goal is to encourage students of any gender with active discussion and promotion through the media. The theme for their organization changes with each month of the semester. Previously, they’ve focused on themes such as loving yourself, sex-trafficking, and sexual assault. Women of Excellence creates fellowship among women to inspire and strengthen the community.

• Madison Bucholz of Westerville, OH is a member of Alpha Delta Pi at Ashland University. Bucholz is a 2016 graduate of Westerville High School.

The purpose of Alpha Delta Pi is to promote high levels of scholarship, service and sisterhood while living up to the ideals of their founders and developing strong personal character. Alpha Delta Pi’s activities include fund-raisers for their philanthropy, visits to the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland, the annual Ron-A-Thon and Silent Auction, Total Membership Education Programs, participation in Alcohol Awareness programs, sisterhood retreats and various social gatherings. Membership in Alpha Delta Pi is open by invitation to female students who have a 2.8 high school GPA or a college GPA at or above Panhellenic average.

Paige Hardy Achieves Austin Peay State University Dean’s List Fall 2018

BEREA, OH (01/24/2019)— The following local students have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2018 semester at Baldwin Wallace University, according to Provost Stephen D. Stahl: Jenna Persons of Galena (43021), a psychology major; Erika Delpin of Westerville (43081), a graduate of Thomas Worthington High School majoring in music therapy; Abi Louisin of Westerville (43081), a graduate of Thomas Worthington High School majoring in religion; Natalie Reichert of Westerville (43081), a graduate of Westerville South High School majoring in international studies; Maddy Svitana of Westerville (43081), a graduate of Saint Francis de Sales High School majoring in marketing; Jessica Villacres of Westerville (43082), a graduate of Westerville South High School majoring in communication sciences and disorders and Spanish.

Any full-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for 12 or more graded hours or part-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for six or more graded hours in the fall or spring semester will be placed on the Dean’s List.

Westerville’s Collinsworth is Part of “Anything Goes” at Mount Union Feb. 28 – March 3

ALLIANCE, OH (02/11/2019)— The University of Mount Union Department of Theatre will present the musical “Anything Goes” February 28 and March 1-2 at 7:30 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. The production will take place in the Brush Performance Hall of the Giese Center for the Performing Arts.

This year, Abigail Collinsworth of Westerville, OH will be a part of the production, along with faculty and various other community members.

“Anything Goes” was created in 1934 with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The play tells the story of an ocean liner, the S.S. American, traveling from New York to London. On board is a cast of passengers, whose romantic lives intertwine with comedic effect. It debuted in 1934 at the Alvin Theatre on Broadway. Later the play was revised for the big screen in 1936 and 1956.

Tickets for the show are $12 for general admission and $10 for seniors/veterans. Tickets are available online at www.mountunion.edu/boxoffice, by phone at 330-821-2565 or in person in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 2-4:30 p.m. when classes are in session.

Abigail Durheim of Sunbury named to fall Deans’ List/honor roll at Nebraska

LINCOLN, NE (02/06/2019)— Abigail Durheim of Sunbury has been named to the Deans’ List/Explore Center List of Distinguished Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

Durheim, a sophomore agricultural and environmental sciences communication major, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

More than 5,300 students at Nebraska have been named to the Deans’ List for the fall semester.

Qualifications for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges. Listed below are the minimum requirements for each entity and the name of its respective dean or director. All qualifying grade-point averages are based on a four-point scale and a minimum of 12 graded semester hours. Students can be on the Deans’ List for more than one college.
