Galena artists Kim and Katherine McClelland recently commemorated 40 years as Winterfair exhibitors — the only artists to participate in the fair every year since its start in 1976. The McClellands, who create jewelry and wall pieces, joined over 400 artists exhibiting their work at Winterfair in Columbus last December. “It’s pretty great to have done one particular event for your whole career,” says Kim.
Not only do long-time customers frequent their booth, the couple now sells to a new generation of collectors. “It’s amazing that every year we have people ask us if this is our first time at Winterfair.”
Held December 2–4 at the Ohio Exposition Center on the Ohio State Fairgrounds, Winterfair featured ceramics, glass, wearable art, jewelry, sculpture, painting and photography. Discerning shoppers found everything from a beautiful piece of jewelry by the McClellands to a painting for their home.
“We congratulate the McClellands on their successful career and thank them for their dedication to Winterfair,” commented Betty Talbott, executive director of Ohio Designer Craftsmen, organizer of the fair. “This is a fun, festive start to the holiday season, with unique gifts handcrafted by artists from across the country.”
Winterfair is produced by Ohio Designer Craftsmen, which receives ongoing funding from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Ohio Arts Council and the Columbus Foundation.
