Columbus Zoo to host variety of fall events

POWELL – The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is preparing to host a variety of events through the end of the year that guests of all ages will enjoy. Ranging from fundraisers supporting conservation initiatives to themed promotional weekends, there will be something fun at the Zoo for the entire family at the Zoo. The list of upcoming events is as follows:


· The Wallflowers with Better than Ezra in concert, Aug. 10, Doors open at 6 p.m. and concert begins at 8 p.m.

The Wallflowers, known for hit singles “One Headlight” and “6th Avenue Heartbreak,” take the stage with Better than Ezra at the Water’s Edge Events Park at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

· Craft Brew at the Zoo, Aug. 25, 6 – 11 p.m.

“Tap” into your wild side during this 21 and over event at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Enjoy an evening of beer, food and live entertainment featuring the return of the Spin Doctors! Limited tickets are available and are on sale on the Zoo website at


· HOOFit Walks presented by OhioHealth, Sept. 12, 9 – 11:30 a.m.

Come walk and talk with an OhioHealth physician and a Zoo animal expert to learn how you can stay healthy and fit—and how Columbus Zoo animals do, too! This is the last walk of the season and it will be focused on “Herd Immunity: The facts and myths about vaccines.”

· Cartoon Weekend, Sept. 16 and 17, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Back by popular demand, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will host a large collection of the most famous cartoon characters that we all know and love. There will be fun for the whole family, including cartoon character meet and greets, appearances by YouTube sensation Brian Hull and more! Cartoon Weekend is included with a Zoo membership or with paid Zoo admission.

· TOONS with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Sept. 17, Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and concert begins at 5 p.m.

To cap off the Cartoon Weekend celebration, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra invite guests to experience the sounds of their favorite cartoons through a unique, family-friendly concert. Don’t miss special guest appearances by voice actor Brian Hull and some past and present favorite cartoon stars!

· Jack Hanna’s Fall Fest presented by Fifth Third Bank, Sept. 23 and 24, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Celebrate the beginning of the fall season during this two-day, fun-filled event. Enjoy traditional fall-themed activities, live entertainment and Jungle Jack Hanna LIVE on stage with his animal friends. Grab your khakis and head out to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for this wild time!

· Rwandan Fête presented by RDP foodservice, Sept. 23, 5 – 10 p.m.

Join Jack Hanna at the Rwandan Fête, an annual fundraising event, hosted by Partners in Conservation and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, benefitting conservation and humanitarian efforts in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Guests may enjoy music, dinner, a live auction and an African Marketplace. This traditional night is always full of heart-warming surprises! · Dana G. “Buck” Rinehart and Jack Hanna’s Conservation Cup at Safari Golf Club presented by SweetWater Brewing Company, Sept. 25, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This traditional 18-hole golf scramble is a one-of-a-kind golf experience that only the Zoo and Safari Golf Club can provide—all to raise money for the Zoo’s Conservation Endowment Fund. This unique outing includes a special appearance by Jungle Jack Hanna, visits from Zoo animals, a photo of each foursome, a meal courtesy of Roosters and more!

· Wine for Wildlife presented by Fifth Third Bank, Sept. 30, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Taste the wild side of wine at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s premier fall fundraising event! Enjoy wine tasting and dinner at Water’s Edge Events Park, highlighted by silent and live auctions featuring travel, exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences at the Zoo, art and collectibles, home décor and, of course, plenty of fine wine. Wine for Wildlife proceeds support the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s Conservation Emergency Fund, providing vital resources to conservation partners on both a local and global scale to benefit wildlife in peril. · Colo’s Classic Car Show presented by Nationwide and featuring Kindig-It Custom Cars, Oct. 1, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Cruise into the 10th anniversary of Colo’s Classic Car Show featuring classic, muscle and low-rider cars from all over Ohio. Raffle prizes and awards will be given out to participants throughout the day. Pre-register cars online at for a discounted rate OR register on the day of the event between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. The registration fee includes four admission passes to the Zoo. Proceeds benefit conservation and education programs at the Columbus Zoo.

· ZooClue: The Game, Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

ZooClue: The Game is back by popular demand, and creepier than ever! Participants will join their favorite spooky characters for an evening of entertainment, up-close animal encounters, a delicious buffet, and spirits! During this adults-only event, guests will travel around Columbus Zoo grounds to collect clues in this interactive, comedic musical experience.

· Boo at the Zoo featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles presented by Mist Twst, Oct. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29, Fri. 5 – 9 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Join us at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for this “merry-not-scary” Halloween tradition of heroic proportions! Meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman and Wonder Woman, plus visit Frogwortz, Pumpkin Junction, treat stations and more!

· Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza Party presented by Donatos, Oct. 21, 22, 28 and 29, 12 – 2 p.m.

Cowabunga, dudes! Join us at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for this totally awesome lunch party for the entire family! Attendees may enjoy a pizza lunch, up-close animal encounters, face-painting and a chance to hang out with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Tickets are $20 per person for members and $30 per person for non-members. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.


· Teen Eco Summit presented by Kroger, Nov. 2–3, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Do you know a teen who wants to save the world? Then sign them up for the Teen Eco Summit, a free two-day youth event at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for eco-conscious students! With inspiring guest speakers, DIY workshops and cool animals (of course), students will leave the summit with their own action plan to make their schools more eco-friendly. Apply online as part of a school team at now through Sept. 15.

· Wildlights efficiently powered by AEP: Member Preview Night presented by The Goddard Schools, Nov. 16, 5 – 9 p.m.

· Stuff the Truck benefitting Mid-Ohio Foodbank, presented by Kroger and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Nov. 17, 5 – 10 p.m.

Grab your friends, family and five non-perishable food items to receive free admission to Wildlights for this night only! One admission ticket will be given for every five items. Please check the Columbus Zoo website for acceptable food item guidelines and more information.

Share in this favorite Central Ohio holiday tradition that has grown from a few strands of lights and a few trays of cookies to millions of LED lights, two animated light shows, the Sparkling Spruce, all new Santa area, special guests including Rudolph and Bumble, reindeer and other holiday festivities that can be found only at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium!


· Jack Hanna’s Home for the Holidays, Dec. 9

Help the animals of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium by bringing in an item (listed on our website event page) to the Zoo and receive free admission on this day. Later that evening, Jungle Jack Hanna returns home for the holidays and presents three LIVE shows with his animal friends.

· Dine with Santa, Dec. 9 and 10, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Get in the holiday spirit and dine with Santa at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Enjoy a kid friendly meal, up-close animal encounters, photos with the jolly old elf himself, face painting and cookie decorating. Tickets are $30 per person for members and $40 per person for non-members.
