New Chamber employee

John Fox says the Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce has a new Administrative Assistant, Sarah Maar. She will be available in the Chamber office Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tiffany Von Almen is moving into a position with the Big Walnut Local School system.

Summer Splash & Cookout

Sunbury United Methodist Church will host Summer Splash & Cookout from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 20 at its shelterhouse. The free event includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, watermelon and snow cones, and games like croquet, horseshoes, and badminton. Music by Contact. In the case of inclement weather all food and dry activities will be moved inside, but all water activities will be cancelled.

• Monday, August 14, 6:00 p.m. Hound Hikes. Bring your canine companion for a walk with a Naturalist. Your dog will receive a bandana at the first Hound Hike and a paw print stamp for each hike completed. Dogs must be up to date on all shots and have county tags. Meet at the park kiosk. No reservations necessary. Gallant Woods Park, 2151 Buttermillk Hill Road.

Kroger re-opens store

Westerville-based Kroger invites shoppers to the grand re-opening celebration for its Clintonville store, located at 3417 N. High St., on Wednesday, August 16, 4-6 p.m. Guests may register to win one of ten $100 Kroger gift cards, sample food and get a free immunization check-up in the pharmacy. The store will also offer face painting and balloon sculpting for children.

The remodeled 39,405-square-foot Kroger represents a $1.9 million investment in the Clintonville community and brings a new Starbucks’ location and a Murray’s Cheese shop. The location added many new products, including a selection of artisan bread.

New Graeter’s flavors

Graeter’s ice cream company is expanding distribution of its newly beloved Chunky Chunky Hippo flavor. This Fiona-inspired flavor will now be available once again in Cincinnati and Dayton and now also available in Columbus area scoop shops. Chunky Chunky Hippo will also be available in pints in scoop shops in those cities and online.

This limited-time flavor was reintroduced due to increase in consumer demand. Scoops and pints of Chunky Chunky Hippo will be made available at select scoop shops and online the week of 8/7. By the way, don’t forget that one of our summer bonus flavors is being released today… Butterscotch Latte!

Gas prices drop

Ohio, OH, August 7- Average retail gasoline prices in Ohio have fallen 4.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.25/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 5,345 gas outlets in Ohio. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.33/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Columbus- $2.18/g, down 14.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.32/g.
