The Big Walnut Winter Junior Cheer Camp will be held this weekend, and cheer camp participants will perform at next Friday’s Big Walnut High School boys’ basketball game when the Golden Eagles host Mount Vernon.
The camp will be from 3 to 5 p.m. this Sunday, Jan. 24, in the Big Walnut Intermediate School gymnasium.
Big Walnut High School varsity cheerleading coach Savannah Brown said this year’s camp is being put on by the high school’s varsity and junior varsity basketball cheerleaders and will be benefit the Big Walnut Cheer Program.
Camp participants can be from pre-kindergarten through grade 6.
During the camp, girls will learn a motion technique, sidelines, jumps and proper technique, and a cheer. They will also learn a special dance routine that will be performed at the Jan. 29 basketball game.
Cheer Camp participants should wear comfortable tennis shoes, T-shirts and shorts, have hair up in ponytails, and bring water bottles.
The $35 camp fee includes a T-shirt and hair bow. All camp proceeds are used to help offset the costs of the high school’s cheerleading team’s equipment, uniforms and squad activities.
Registration forms are available wherever Big Walnut cheerleaders can be found. Pre-registration forms may be mailed to Big Walnut High School or given to your child’s elementary school office.
Walk-ins on camp day are welcome.
