Students in the Big Walnut – DACC Agricultural Education program competed in the State Job Interview Career Development Event (CDE) on December 2, 2017. The event was sponsored by the Haviland Plastic Products and was hosted in the Agricultural Engineering Building at The Ohio State University.

Freshman Avery Wagner competed in Division I and senior Lexie Kirkpatrick competed in Division V of the event.

This event allows students to complete all aspects of the job search process. Students complete and submit a cover letter and resume before the event and are scored on the quality of the documents. On the day of the event, students complete a job application, personal interview, and follow-up letter geared toward a job of their choice.

Ten students from across the state compete in the state preliminary round. Both Avery and Lexie placed second in their divisions. In order to compete in the state event, both students had to win their Sub-District and District contests.

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is composed of 653,359 members belonging to one of 8,568 chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
