Big Walnut High School senior Samantha Buxton was recognized as a Student of the Month during last Thursday evening’s Big Walnut Board of Education meeting.
Samantha is involved in many school activities, including student council, yearbook, drama club, National Honor Society and varsity cheerleading. She recently played the lead, Gabriella Montez, in the drama club’s production of “High School Musical.”
Samantha also is very involved in the community by singing and leading a music group at Sunbury United Methodist Church, as well as being an active member in her church youth group.
“Samantha Buxton is the epitome of what we want from our students,” noted a written recommendation from the high school. “For the entire four years of high school, she has pushed herself academically by taking Honors and AP courses. As a cheerleader, student council member, National Honor Society member and, most recently, as the leading role in the spring musical, Samantha leads by example.”
It was also noted that in the halls, in the classrooms and in the community, Samantha is the first to volunteer to help, making a difference one person at a time.
Samantha is the daughter of Joshua and Angela Buxton. She has a sister, Tori, a Big Walnut High School sophomore, and a brother, Wyatt, a Big Walnut Intermediate School sixth-grader.
