On April 12, State Auditor Dave Yost’s office released the Big Walnut Local School District’s latest audit, covering district finances from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015, and the audit was clean.
Under Ohio’s system, political subdivisions choose an outside auditing firm approved by the state. Shannon, Wilson & Snow Inc., a Newark-based certified public accounting firm, completed Big Walnut’s audit. The audit was then filed with Yost’s office for review.
“The audit report from Shannon, Wilson & Snow stated that they did not identify any deficiencies in internal control and there were no findings related to our financial statements or federal programs,” said district Treasurer Terri Eyerman Day. “Once submitted to the auditor’s office, the single audit is reviewed, and a statement certifying the review is issued. The notices sent from the auditor of state’s office were notices that the auditor of state’s office has reviewed and certified our audit.”
Each year Ohio’s public school districts are audited.
