Big Walnut Elementary School fourth-grade student Garrett Stover was recognized as the May Student of the Month during last Thursday’s Big Walnut Board of Education meeting.
Garrett, who aspires to be an excavator or serve in the military when he grows up, said he loves school because he makes new friends.
His favorite book is “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” and his favorite subject in school is science. In his free time, Garrett plays basketball, baseball and football. He also enjoys hanging out with his little brother, Hank, and works with his dad.
Garrett said his favorite funny sports moment is the time where he scored a basket — for the other team. His goal in the future is to score 30 points in one game – for his own team.
Garrett said he is looking forward to summer, as he hopes to go to his favorite place, Florida.
His teachers say Garrett is an all-around great student that can always be trusted to do the right thing. He works especially hard in school, is honest, polite, respectful and a great influence on his peers.
Garrett is also known as a quiet leader who is always helping out in the classroom or helping others without being asked to do so; he kind to his peers at recess by including everyone in the game.
The son of Lindsey and Bubba Stover, 10-year-old Garrett has three siblings – brothers Hank and Clint, and sister Halle; and to keep life interesting, Garrett owns one dog, two horses and a bull.
