Developer Vince Romanelli, et al., had a request to change the zoning on the former Sunbury Golf Course property from Recreational to Planned Residential District during the special May 16 zoning meeting. The application was denied because a variance from the village tree replacement policy netted two No votes.
David Fisher, Kephart and Fisher, and Romanelli were in chambers during last Monday’s regular zoning meeting asking if there was a way the project could move forward.
“We’re willing to make some modifications and are asking for your advice on how to move forward,” Fisher said. “We always want to do class projects; we want to set the bar and yet build affordable homes that give you high standards you can hold other builders to. That’s our goal.”
Sunbury Village Solicitor David Brehm said the applicant could re-file the application, or commission members could vote to reconsider the denied application. Brehm said it makes sense to approve a motion to reconsider the application.
Commission members agreed to hold a special zoning session at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, with the Sunbury Golf Course PRD request and variances on the agenda.
