The Good Causes Grill in the Sunbury Ace Hardware parking lot is a food concession trailer for local non-profits and students to use for fundraising events. The rules are simple – schedule a date, show up with food and beverages, and no sales, strictly donations.
This Saturday (October 1) from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Big Walnut/DACC FFA members will be at the Grill to raise funds for students who are attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in late October.
“We’re taking 14 students to the National FFA Convention this year,” said Big Walnut/DACC Satellite Ag Science Instructor and FFA Advisor Jeff Stimmell. “The students are really excited about attending the convention as we use this time to listen to motivational speakers, hear from some of the most successful chapters in the nation, attend a career and college fair, and watch some national Career Development Event finals.”
Stimmell said it was while attending past national FFA conventions that Big Walnut/DACC FFA members became interested in the Agricultural Issues Forum. It has placed first and second in the state for the past two years, respectively.
“Anyone who would be willing to stop at the Good Causes Grill at Ace Hardware would be appreciated,” Stimmell said. “The menu isn’t set in stone as we depend on student and parent donations, but we’ll certainly have hotdogs, hamburgers, and drinks.”
Sunbury Ace Hardware is located at 300 West Granville Street, at the intersection of State Route 3, in Sunbury.
