The Northern Olentangy Watershed Festival Planning Committee is accepting nominations for NOW Conservation Awards until April 19. The awards celebrate individuals, groups, businesses and organizations who exemplify a spirit of watershed stewardship and preservation. Categories include individual or family, local business or organization, and local government agency. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominees must be living or operating in the Upper Olentangy River Watershed.
The NOW Festival, sponsored by the City of Delaware Public Utilities Department, will take place Saturday, June 22, at Mingo Park, 500 E. Lincoln Ave.. The festival engages and educates residents about land and water stewardship, especially as it pertains to the Upper Olentangy River Watershed. Featured will be information booths from environmental organizations, a rubber duck race on the river, a rain barrel raffle, the announcement of the award winners and more.
Sponsors and painters are needed for the rain barrel raffle. Register through April 12. The cost to sponsor a barrel is $30. Sponsors are able to paint the barrel themselves, or request that the city match their barrel up with a local art program. There is no cost associated with painting an already sponsored barrel, but painting supplies are not included. Requests to paint barrels will also be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All of the raffle proceeds will go to the Olentangy Watershed Alliance for watershed stewardship.
For award nomination forms and rain barrel requests, please contact City Watershed & Sustainability Coordinator Caroline Cicerchi at 740-203-1905 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
