The November Berkshire Township Trustee meetings are on and Monday, November 28 at 7 p.m. in the Berkshire Township Hall, 1454 Rome Corners Road, Galena. Meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, unless a holiday interferes with that schedule.
The trustees want to thank every resident and business owner who took time to write a letter or send a postcard regarding the $16.5 million that they are asking ODOT to keep and use at the current exit.
“We received more than 500 postcards and letters, representing more than 700 individuals who want to see improvements at I-71 and 36/37 before the $16.5 million generated by the Tanger Outlet Mall is used elsewhere,” the township’s November newsletter states.
Trustees Rod Myers, Mike Dattilo and Jeff George attended the ODOT/TRAC meeting on October 13th, and Trustee Myers spoke to reiterate the township’s objections to the money being taken for use at a proposed new exit.
“ODOT/TRAC reviewed several other applications for large projects in District 6 at this meeting,” the newsletter said. “Competition is stiff for funding dollars. Some of the other projects involved improvements near large industries and businesses such as Honda America, Scott’s Marysville, Hospitals, etc. …, which would likely impact how the south exit proposal is “ranked” in order of importance.”
Officials indicated another TRAC meeting would be held in the future to which residents will be invited to attend and share.
The township’s newsletter also said the Delaware General Health District offers many services to county residents which are either free or on a sliding cost scale. One is the Walk-In Immunization Clinic, every Wednesday morning without appointment (by appointment at other times). Another important free service, is the Newborn Home Visiting program. It is available to all residents and newborns living within Delaware County including foster and adopted families, and provides help and information, as well as health care checks.
