Bowman recognized by Sunbury

Sunbury Police Officer Matthew Bowman was recognized during the Wednesday, February 1, Sunbury Village Council meeting for his actions while off-duty when a tanker overturned and exploded at the I-270 and US 33 interchange in Columbus on Monday, January 23. Officer Bowman was approaching the tanker as it exploded, got out of his car, and kept other drivers from getting close to the accident. “Officer Bowman got out of his car and took action that saved lives,” said Sunbury Mayor Tommy Hatfield. “We’re proud to see somebody like Officer Bowman representing Sunbury.” From left are Officer Bowman, Sunbury Police Chief Pat Bennett, and Hatfield.
