Tree Commission does park cleanup

Members of the Village of Sunbury Landscape & Tree Commission have green thumbs. They like to get their hands in the soil, says commission chair Dan Shaw.

“At their August meeting the Sunbury Tree and Landscape Commission decided to do some community service, rather than sit in a stuffy office,” Shaw said. “Therefore they met at Evening Street Park to do some much-needed cleanup in the flower beds which didn’t get done sooner due to various things, mostly the weather.”

Those participating in the recent day outside the office were Shaw, commission member Dan Lowe, commission assistant secretary Rosie Miller, and village Administrator Allen Rothermel.

“This is just another example of some community service done around the village by the Sunbury Tree & Landscape Commission,” Shaw said. “If you see us out working, stop by and help out. It’s healthy, it’s good for the village, it’s good for the environment.”
