Legion pancake breakfast Saturday

Colonel Benson Hough Post 457 of the American Legion is holding a veterans pancake breakfast at the post, 230 Otis St., Sunbury, this Saturday.

Serving begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 11 a.m. All veterans will eat for free, and others will be asked to make a $5 donation for advance tickets or at the door.

Proceeds from the annual event, after expenses, help fund Buckeye Girls State and Buckeye Boys State attendees and other veterans’ activities supported by Post 457.

Each year Post 457, with help from other area service organizations and private individuals, send several area high school students between their junior and senior years to Buckeye Girls State and Buckeye Boys State.

While at the annual boys and girls state events, students learn the functions of government, from local offices to governor, holding elections and operating mock cities and states.

Post 457 also raises money for the Ohio Warriors Scholarship Fund that provides educational assistance to children of men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the War on Terror.

“This annual event is a great opportunity to honor our local veterans and help support Post 457 activities, while enjoying a delicious pancake breakfast,” said Post 457 Adjutant Gene Fuller.

See any Post 457 member for breakfast tickets, or call or Fuller at 740-965-2111.
